Hand in hand for healthy campus, Hand in hand for personal growth

Objective

  • To promote a holistic integration of physical, emotional, social and spiritual well-being in pre-school children;
  • To assist teachers in early identification of vulnerable families and in helping such families by promoting home-school cooperation.

Service Users

Students, their family members, principals, teachers and school personnel of the Pre-primary Institutions (PPIS) which have joined our Sparkling Stars project.

Format

  • To provide on-site social worker service for parents and carers of school children.

Withdrawal from Service

Withdrawal can be made directly to the responsible social worker.

Service Areas

  • Casework Service
  • To provide casework counselling service for children in need and their families. Through face-to-face consultation, home visits, referral and provision of community resources, we aim to identify and intervene early in family potentially at-risk;

  • Therapeutic Groups
  • To provide therapeutic groups for school children in need, for example game therapy groups, art therapy groups, emotion-focused therapy groups, in order to support their psychological and emotional needs during growth;

  • Groups and Activities
  • To organize various group activities regularly in order to care for the wellbeing of children and their families and to facilitate parent-child relationship.

    • Children growth groups (Emotional management, Self-care training, Concentration improvement, Peer conflict management etc);
    • Parent Talks (Positive parenting, Emotional management of children, Improving children’s concentration, Enhance learning motivation etc); ;
    • Parent-child groups (P1 Adaptation class, Parent-child conflict resolution etc);
    • Parent-child activities (Parent-child day camp, Resilient family fun day, Volunteering visits etc);
  • Professional Consultation and Training
  • Through case consultation, educational and professional training, we improve the professional judgment of our frontline workers including their ability to discern potential risks and their skills for crisis management.

  • Consultation Service
  • We provide practical and professional suggestions to parents/carers (e.g. children’s developmental characteristics and needs, effective parenting skills and referral methods for students with special educational needs) and teachers (e.g. child protection and intervention strategies for potentially at-risk families).

  • Coordination of Community Resources
  • We proactively collaborate with different schools, organizations and communities in order to introduce new community resources (e.g. referral for financial/material assistance, parent-child volunteering visits) which provide practical support to the livelihood of families in need.
