Sparkling Stars Healthy School Policy

學前駐校社工服務計劃

 

Aim

  • To support pre-school learners and their families and to improve the parenting skills of their parents;
  • To promote a holistic integration of physical, emotional, social and spiritual well-being in pre-school children
  • To assist teachers in early identification of vulnerable families and in helping such families by promoting home-school cooperation.

 

Service Target

  • Students, their family members, principals, teachers and school personnel of the Pre-primary Institutions (PPIS) which have joined our Sparkling Stars project./li>

 

Forms of Service

  • Providing school social workers to render service for parents/carers and teachers of students

 

Service Included

  • Case Service
  • We provide case counselling service to students in need and their families, aiming to make early identification and intervention of potential at-risk families possible through face-to-face consultation, home visit, case referral and providing community information.
  • Therapeutic Group
  • We organize therapeutic groups for students in need to take care of their development and physical and emotional needs. These include Play Therapy Group, Art Therapy Group and Emotion-focused Therapy Group
  • Group and Activity
  • We regularly organise different group activities to improve the physical and emotional health of children and their parents as well as to strengthen their family bonds.
    • Children Growth Group (Emotion management, self-care skill training, attention training and peer conflict management etc.)
    • Parent Talks (Positive parenting, emotional control for kids, improving children’s concentration and motivating children to learn etc.)
    • Parent-child Groups (P1 adaptation class, parent-child conflict resolution etc.)
    • Parent-child Activities (Parent-child day camp, resilient family fun day, volunteer visiting etc.)
  • Professional Consultation and Training
  • Through case consultation, educating and professional training, we improve the professional judgment of our frontline workers, their ability to discern potential risks and their skills for crisis management.
  • Consultation Service
  • We provide practical and professional suggestions to parents/carers (e.g. children’s developmental characteristics and needs, effective parenting skills and referral methods for students with special educational needs) and teachers (e.g. child protection and intervention strategies for higher-risk families).
  • Community Resource Coordination
  • We proactively collaborate with different schools, organisations and communities in order to introduce new community resources (e.g. referral for financial/material assistance, parent-child volunteer visits) which give practical help to the livelihood of needy families.
