Early Education and Training Service cum Hearing and Speech Enhancement Scheme

The Service provides professional assessments and appropriate early education and training to children aged under 6 with hearing impairment or language delay, including areas such as listening, pronunciation, language, physical fitness, cognition, emotion and socialization etc.

Service Users

Children aged under 6 with hearing impairment or language delay.

Format

• Individual Training

Based on the needs and abilities of individual students, we design tailored training plans for them to learn listening and communicating through playing; if needed, sign language will also be used to assist training. Through integrated learning, we aim to improve children’s language comprehension, their ability to express themselves, and cognition ability;

• Group Training

To improve the communication, expressive language and social-emotional management skills of the children through playing and interactions;

• Speech Therapy

Speech therapists will conduct professional assessments for children and provide trainings in speech and language, pronunciation, auditory and vocal areas for children in need;

• Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy

Based on the needs of individual students, we provide professional assessments and offer occupational therapy and physiotherapy if needed;

• Service for Parents

Social workers will provide parents with educational, counselling and support services. Talks and sharing sessions will also be organized for parents to learn parenting methods and skills.

Service Charge

HKD$148 per year.

Application for Service

After assessment by Child Assessment Centre, Maternal and Child Health Centre or Paediatricians, children will be referred by medical social workers or Integrated Family Services Centre. Enrolment will then be made by the Central Referral System for Rehabilitation Services operated by the Social Welfare Department.

By written notice to Centre-in-charge 1 month in advance
