Sign Language Training and Development Service
The Centre organizes sign language training courses to encourage hearing persons to learn sign language, and to understand basic communication skills and related cultural knowledge so as to interact with hearing impaired persons and build an inclusive society.
Individuals interested in learning sign language
We organize a series of sign language training courses in Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced Level and also jointly organize Sign Language Interpretation Training. Also, we offer tailor-made courses for governmental departments, organizations or groups based on their preferred time and venue.
After learning vocabularies in sign language from a variety of fields, students will become qualified as sign language interpreters through learning professional theories and practical training.
The page provides information on sign language courses, publications and instructional videos. Also, a barrier-free programme “Sign Language Hot News”, hosted by hearing impaired presenters in sign language, is uploaded on the page. The programme includes subtitles and dubbing to help promote sign language news broadcasting and facilitate the integration of hearing impaired persons and hearing community.
We organize workshops and classes for organizations and groups. Content and format would be the same with our own sign language courses but the time and venue would be tailored to the organization concerned.
The volunteer group of our Centre consists of members graduated from our Advanced Sign Language course. Through learning and practical training, members serve the hearing impaired community and develop their talents as interpreters.

Each publication covers around 600 sign language vocabularies, categorized based on terms used in medical setting as well as in Hong Kong social, economic and political setting. The publication is on sale at our Centres as well as at all major bookstores.
