Parents Resource Centre (PRC) started serving families with hearing impaired children in 1992. It serves families with hearing impaired children and teenagers under 18. By offering comprehensive service
,PRC facilitates parents teach and help their hearing impaired children develop their potentials. Services include resource and toy library, activities and course for hearing impaired children and parents.
Target Service User
Family with hearing impaired children aged 18 or below (Hearing impaired children must apply for the Society’s membership.)
Service
Talks, Workshop and Sharing
Different programs on how to help hearing impaired children will be conducted for parents. These programs also strengthen parents’ mutual-support to one another. They obtain precious encouragement and experience in the gathering.
Social Group and Activities
Programs are conducted for improving communication and social skills of hearing impaired children and teenagers. Their sense of responsibility, discipline and self-confidence would be developed or enhanced in the volunteers and uniform groups.
Interest Course
Various courses of different natures help hearing impaired children, teenagers, as well as their parents develop their own potential and better family relationship. We wish our members a happy and wonderful childhood.
Recreational Activities
We organize visits and outdoor activities to broaden the horizon of our members.
Newsletter for members
To enhance the communication with our members, newsletter with activity news, sharing of members, parents and volunteers will be published for PRC members.
Resource Library
We operate a resource library with toys, books, DVDs for members to enjoy their leisure and to learn. Our staff help parents inspire their kids by making use of resources like toys and books.
John Tracy Clinic Correspondence Course (JTCCC)
We have been operating the Chinese Version of “John Tracy Clinic Correspondence Course ” for parents with hearing impaired child since 1987. The course consists of two parts. The first part (Baby Course) is for parents with hearing impaired child aged below 2 years old. The other part (Pre-school Course) is for parents with hearing impaired child from 2 to 6. Via internet, students come from Hong Kong and other Asian Region(including China, Macau and Taiwan. 〔More about JTCCC (Chinese only)〕
