The Employment Service Centre aims to provide job training for hearing impaired persons aged from 18 to 45 in order to assist them to secure jobs in open employment.  Our services include:

Supported Employment Service  

Target Group

Hearing impaired persons (aged 18 to 45), unemployed or willing to change his/her job.  

Types of Training  

1.  Training in Fast Food Shop/Cafeteria

Training in catering and fast-food industry is provided in our Deaf Cafeteria(café established by Hong Kong Society for the Deaf, mainly operated by hearing impaired employees), where trainees learn to work in actual setting with hearing and able-bodied persons. This approach aims to enhance their social and communication skills, working ability.

1.1    Training Content

      1. general fast food shop/cafeteria operation and food   producing process
      2. communicative skills with able people
      3. interview skills etc.  

1.2    Training period Three months, depending on the progress of the individual trainee.  

1.3    Training schedule Three days per weak, from 9a.m. to 5p.m.  

1.4    Training site Sai Kung Deaf Cafeteria or Lam Tin Deaf Cafeteria  

1.5    Training Allowance $2000 cash allowance/per month, with the condition of 80% attendance per month.  

2.  Job Matching Service        

2.1    Training Content

      1.  how to write an application letter
      2. interview skills
      3. communication skills with colleagues and supervisors
      4. understand “Employment Ordinance”
      5. vocational skills training , for example : Data EntryOffice Assistance  Cleaning etc.  

2.2    Training schedule Adjustment will be made according to the situation of the client.  

2.3    Training site -- Tseung Kwan O Multi-service Centre -- 6/F., Sheung Mei House, Sheung Tak Estate, Tseung Kwan O

Application 

  1. Referral by Social Welfare Department, Non-governmental Organization or School
  2. Interested hearing impaired persons can apply in person
  3. Our social worker will arrange an interview with the client and make an assessment based on individual needs

Termination  

  1. If the trainee cannot or does not attend in the course according to particular requirement, the organizer should hold the right to terminate the qualification of trainees
  2. The trainee has the right to terminate his or her training at any time

On the Job Training for the Disabled       

To help disabled person to become independent, a 3-year project, named "On the Job raining for the Disabled" is implemented.  The programs include:

  1. Counseling, on the job training with $1,250 monthly allowance(1 to 3 months)
  2. Job trial (1 to 3 months)
  3. Follow up service (6 months)
