The Hong Kong Society for the Deaf is the only voluntary organisation in Hong Kong funded by the Social Welfare Department and the Community Chest to establish an Audiology Centre for the provision of professional and “one-stop” audiological services at a very low service charge. Audiology Centre aims to help the hearing impaired cope with their hearing difficulties. Objectives Objectives of Audiology Centre are listed as follows:
Service User Any Hong Kong permanent resident aged 6 or above is eligible to apply for and receive our “Regular audiological services”. Non-residents should apply for our “Extended audiological services”. Mode of Service Professionals, including “Audiologist” (with a Master
degree in Audiology), “Audiology Technician” Scope of Service
Recipients of “Comprehensive Social Security Assistance” are eligible for applying financial assistance through our Audiology Centre for the purchase of hearing aids. In addition, audiological reports could be submitted to Transport Department for applying “Approval letter for driving”. Regular Service charges Charges are divided into “Member” and “Non-member” categories. Non-members could apply for membership on the date of service to enjoy member benefits.
The cost of hearing aid or assistive device is based on individual selection. For service of our “Mobile Audiology Centre”, please refer to its leaflet.
Service Application Advance booking is essential for audiological assessment, hearing aid prescription and evaluation. Other services are provided within opening hours of our Audiology Centre as listed below: Monday to Friday 09:00 – 13:00 ; 14:00 – 17:00 ** Closed on Sundays and Public Holidays ** Phone booking is available between 09:00 and 21:00 (excluding 13:00-14:00 and 17:00-18:00), Monday to Saturday at 2711-1974. “Extended audiological services” has been launched on our own resources which aims to handle individual request which is out of the scope of our regular services.
Service Withdrawal Service users have full rights to withdraw service from our Audiology Centre by choosing not to continue follow-up service at any particular time. All audiological records and personal particulars are kept in strict confidential. Service users have the rights to access, make corrections and permanently delete their file records. Service users can request an audiological assessment
record or report by paying a fee of HK$20 or HK$100 respectively. Enquiries The Hong Kong Society for the Deaf -- Service Hours
